Google Analytics made their new Social Value and Social Engagement reports generally available to users this week.  The much awaited reports do not disappoint. Perhaps most interesting is the ability to add custom tracking to social widgets using a new _trackSocial JavaScript method. This very useful for tracking interactions with known social widgets like the Pinterest “PinIt” button, but also very flexible for tracking interaction with more obscure social networks that are off the Google Radar. Google documentation is still a little sparse, but implementation information is available here: http://code.google.com/apis/analytics/docs/tracking/gaTrackingSocial.html
